Jason Farris is a sports executive, best-selling author, and film producer. His mix of cultural and athletic pursuits along with his financial services, on-line media and software experience feed the creativity and artistic passion that are at the heart of circaNow’s inter-disciplinary productions.
Jason’s professional career has been diverse and rewarding. Most recently he was Chief Operating Officer of the NHL’s Dallas Stars. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of Citizens Bank of Canada. Earlier in his career he chased down deals as a business consultant for the Jim Pattison Group and built a strong software services business for Fincentric Corporation.
Jason earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he developed an expertise in post-merger management of high tech firms. He also holds a B.A. (Political Science) degree from the University of Toronto and a B.Sc. (Physics) degree from the University of British Columbia.
Jason serves as a director on the Board of Directors of the Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum. Over the years he has also served on the board of directors of Vancity Capital Corporation, the Visa Canada Association, the Dallas Stars Foundation and Shad Valley International, a national not-for-profit organization.
Jason co-developed and taught the Applied Franchise Management course for the Business of Hockey Institute and has served as a team mentor for the Next36 program at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management.
Jason was the 2019 recipient of the Brian McFarlane Award. Presented by the Society for International Hockey Research, the award recognizes outstanding lifetime achievement in hockey research and writing.
